Projects with Hard to Reach Young People
Generally long term projects leading to a performance.

Protein offers workshops for disadvantaged and disaffected young people in a number of different settings. Working with small groups, the dancer/teacher will use a flexible teaching approach and focus on developing self-esteem, building confidence, trust and team building.
Moving between dance and theatre tasks based on Protein's observation of everyday life and human relationships, participants will be carefully led through self-exploration, expression and discovery in a fun and inclusive atmosphere. Creative problem solving activities and games will help to build personal confidence, respect for the others and stronger relationships.

“We work with many of the students from the Pavilion. That was one of the best pieces of work I have seen and the benefits and sense of achievement have remained. We are hoping to bring dance back into our Work Related Learning offer”

Ann Klaus, Children's Services, Schools and Learning, London Borough of Barnet re Protein's three week residency project towards “I Woz 'Ere 2”, 2006
